There's no question that loss is a major storyline of the foster and adoption journey. Children lose their first families, their first homes, and their sense of normal and familiar. But equally, they often lose their identity, connection to who they are, and subsequently, their purpose. It's crucial that caregivers keep a finger on this pulse and learn how to respond with compassion and understanding.
